It is official we are in for a clown show this election year. Trump Vs Clinton the epic election for the President of the United States that the media has been longing for! Just a year ago I thought CNN, HLN, Fox News and other news channels were dead media walking. The 2016 election has been everything they have hoped for. We have had drama, comedy, action, heartbreak and of course talk of genitals.
The best part of all of this drama is that I get to watch it from neutral Panama with an Atlas beer in one hand and Twitter ready to go on my mobile with the other. Folks the world has never seen anything like this. Growing up I was a huge fan of history and I used to marvel at the history of Rome. The one aspect of Rome that always intrigued me was the term, "Bread and Circuses".
Bread and Circuses
"Bread and circuses" (or bread and games; from Latin: panem et circenses) is metonymic for a superficial means of appeasement. In the case of politics, the phrase is used to describe the generation of public approval, not through exemplary or excellent public service or public policy, but through diversion; distraction; or the mere satisfaction of the immediate, shallow requirements of a populace, as an offered "palliative." Its originator, Juvenal, used the phrase to decry the selfishness of common people and their neglect of wider concerns. The phrase also implies the erosion or ignorance of civic duty amongst the concerns of the commoner.

Trump Vs Clinton Does Not Matter!
If Americans just took a moment and realized their true potential they would be an economic powerhouse once again. Instead the people of the USA spend a year trying to decide who the keeper of the zoo is going to be instead of focusing on real issues. It really does sadden me to see people attacking each other at political rallies because one group of people does not like the zoo keeper the other group likes. This is pure insanity and sometimes it takes someone from the outside looking in to see it.
Thanks to many years of living abroad and my chosen tribe I now see my former country in a new light. This will be my second US election watched from Panama. I have to admit this one is way more entertaining. It used to bother me when people made fun of me for being American. Now I just shrug my shoulders and laugh with them because frankly we deserve to be the brunt of jokes.
Do I care who wins? Not really, I believe if Hillary Clinton wins we will have just more of the same. If Donald Trump wins we may see some changes but one man can't change a country that is run by special interests.
